It is the end of another month (where is this year going already!?) and that can mean only one thing...
It’s time to introduce you to another one of our amazing Kent Mums in Business.
We really do have so many fantastic businesses here in Kent which are owned and run by incredible local Mums, and I think we should shout from the rooftops about how amazing they are.
This month I would love to introduce you to the wonderful Sammy Berry, the loveliest local Mum and a Tongue Tie Specialist here in Kent.
I was lucky enough to spend some time with Sammy as she supported a brand-new family in her Ashford-based clinic.
As well as making me rather broody (which is inevitable when there is a gorgeous ickle newborn involved!) it was such a beautiful experience.
Not only is Sammy incredibly knowledgeable but the space she has created for new parents is so welcoming, supportive and calm.
I wish I had found someone like her when my own babies were born.

Tell us about your business and what services you offer?
Hi my name is Sammy and I am a Midwife and Frenulotomist (Tongue tie specialist).
I offer support with infant feeding, both breast and bottle as well as a full oral functional assessment if there are symptoms of restricted function.
If a tongue tie is diagnosed, then release can be performed.
What do you offer to your clients that no-one else does?
I aim to offer all clients a same day or next day appointment.
I also offer all of my clients 24/7 contact.
At such a vulnerable time as having a baby, I believe there is nothing more important than having someone to turn to if you need support or advice and very often this can fall outside of normal working hours.
I want my clients to know they can contact me any time day or night.
Where does your inspiration come from?
From qualifying as a midwife in 2011 I have always enjoyed supporting infant feeding.
Having had 3 children born with a tongue tie, I then developed an even stronger passion in supporting families overcoming the challenges a tongue-tie can bring.
As well as continuing my role in the NHS I also developed my own private practice where I feel I can offer more time, thus creating a more personal, well rounded, holistic service.

What is your favourite part of your job?
The feedback!
Knowing you’ve been there for someone and made a difference is everything.

If you would like to know more about the absolutely wonderful work Sammy does, please visit her website here, give her your support on social media and if you know anyone who is expecting (or has just welcomed) a new little one please send them her way...
