If you follow me on social media you will know that I have decided to dedicate a blog post each month to one of the amazing Mum-owned local businesses here in Kent.
When I look around, there are *so* many wonderful businesses right on our doorstep which are owned and run by incredible local Mums and I really want to celebrate that (and them, because they are awesome!)
This month I had the pleasure of spending time with Hannah Partridge, Kent Mummy-of-two and owner of the beautiful, luxury handmade children's clothing line, The Little Partridge
Hannah is like a ray of sunshine, as soon as we met it was like we had known each other for years.
It is clear that, for Hannah, her business is about *so* much more than simply making kids clothes - she really has taken the time to think about every stage of the process (from the fabrics she chooses and sources to the way she packages her products) to ensure that each part of her business reflects her brand values.
As I watched Hannah work on one of her beautiful rompers we chatted about her business, how she got started and how much she truly loves what she does....
Tell us about your business and what services you offer?
I run The Little Partridge a luxury handmade childrenswear company.
We offer a unique range of beautiful children’s clothes including items such as leggings, rompers and pyjamas, as well as a few products for grown ups too!
Is there a story behind the name you chose?
Our surname is Partridge and my business started out of me sewing for my little girl so it seemed a logical choice!
What do you offer to your clients that no-one else does?
Being an original, ethical and eco friendly brand is really important to me, so a lot of my fabric designs are exclusive and wherever possible the fabric I use is organic, designed, milled and printed in the UK by other UK small businesses.
All my packaging is eco friendly and recyclable and I’m very careful to minimise waste.
This way when you buy a product from The Little Partridge, you can be reassured that you aren’t contributing to fast fashion and your children will be in beautiful original designs that have been produced with a lot of care and our planet in mind.
Where does your inspiration come from?
My girls!
I love to imagine them in my ideas for products and I love them in soft watercolour designs.
What is your favourite part of your job?
To be honest, I love most parts! Yes it is a juggle with my girls being so young but the ability to work creatively is a dream!
One of my favourite parts is seeing my ideas come to life - from imagining a fabric, seeing it become a garment I have made, and then receiving beautiful photos of children wearing them, that’s true satisfaction right there!
