Celebrating Kent Mums in Business: Love Hypnotherapy

Updated: Dec 1, 2022

If you are new to my website (welcome, it is so lovely to have you here!) I have decided to dedicate a blog post each month to one of the amazing Mum-owned local businesses here in Kent. We really do have *so* many fantastic businesses right on our doorstep which are owned and run by incredible local Mums, and I think it is so important to celebrate them and show them what a great job they are doing.

This month I am very excited to introduce you to Abby Lovell - Kent Mum, qualified hypnotherapist and the proud owner of Love Hypnotherapy.

I was lucky enough to spend some time with Abby in her private therapy room in Coxheath, Maidstone.

We chatted about what she does, how *every* session is unique and tailored to the individual, and why she is so passionate about helping people to lead a happier and healthier life through hypnotherapy...

Tell us about your business and what services you offer?

I am a fully qualified and certified Hypnotherapist working in the Coxheath area and see people of all ages from the local community and some from a bit further afield too.

I see people for all sorts of things, big or small, we are all unique and as such, so are our problems and how they impact on our daily lives.

Stress is a big factor in all of our lives nowadays and this greatly affects our health and wellbeing.

I often find that someone will come to me for what they think is a specific problem, only to realise in our consultation that there are a few other issues too and by looking at the person as a whole means I can really help to get to the root of the matter.

Having said that, hypnotherapy is not by any means like pulling teeth! The client finds their own solutions and answers, I merely guide them to the dreamtime relaxation space to be able to do it.

It is for this very reason that Hypnotherapy is particularly good for people who find it hard to talk about how they feel for whatever reason. I don’t need to know what they see or feel in hypnosis unless they choose to share it, which many of them often do.

The only side effect of being hypnotised is that you feel calmer, happier and more in control of yourself! So that can’t be bad!

What do you offer to your clients that no-one else does?

I have also trained in NLP (neuro linguistic programming) and EFT (emotional freedom technique) alongside my hypnotherapy and I feel that this really helps me to use a unique treatment for a unique problem.

A big part of my job is writing what we call scripts, which are our stories if you like, of places you can go to in your mind in order to be able to release whatever is bothering you.

Where does your inspiration come from?

I have always loved Creative writing and English and I feel that I now get to use these skills in my therapy work and the response I get back is always so lovely, some people say they feel like they’ve been on holiday during our sessions, and don’t want to come back to reality!

When I see someone leave my therapy room free from tension, and lighter in themselves, this is what I love the most.

I have always been a massive daydreamer, particularly as a child, as is documented on most of my school reports!

I loved the feeling of the mind wandering to beautiful places and this is what I want to create with my clients, an enjoyable, dreamtime state where they can relax, let go and take a much needed break from their busy, overthinking minds!

What is your favourite part of your job?

Making a difference to people’s everyday happiness with my words is amazing. Most people I see say they don’t want to leave!

Giving people that time back just to shut off and relax is my favourite thing to do as it very rarely happens within our hectic lifestyles.

Even if you think you’re relaxing watching TV etc, the chances are your brain is still running overtime, planning what you need to do the next day, week or month!

Hypnotherapy allows your brain to relax too and I had a client recently say he felt like he’d had a massage……of the mind. I loved this and think it really summed up why I do this job.
